    The Teacher Scholarship Programs of the OklahomaOklahoma Foundation for Excellence encourage teachersadministers two programs that provide funding for professional development. Teacher Scholarships for Professional Development are designed to participate in continuing education activities.Teachers can gain knowledge and inspiration fromenhance educational opportunities for students by helping teachers attend top-quality regional, national experts and exchange ideas with colleagues from acrossinternational workshops and institutes in their chosen fields. Boeing provides math and science scholarships for teachers in the countrygreater Oklahoma City area. Fund for Teachers-Oklahoma provides fellowships of up to $5,000 for individuals and share what$10,000 for teams for self-designed summer professional growth. The program is designed to enrich the professional growth of teachers as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that will have learned withthe greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students and fellow teachers. Current bridge funding of more than $1.95 million from the national organization has been awarded to 566 Oklahoma teachers.on their school communities.

    Planting Fuel: Photosynthesis
    In this lesson students will analyze the process of energy transfer that occurs between sunlight and plants as they explore the process of photosynthesis. Students will design experiments to determine whether a bean plant will grow in the dark. Data collected from the experiments will later be utilized to assist students in understanding how plants can be utilized to harvest bioenergy.

    Bioenergy Summer Technology Academies for Students
    Bioenergy Summer Technology Academies are held each summer on the University of Tulsa campus. Three one-week summer academies provide 75 students and 15 teachers in grades 4-9 with GIS mapping skills, GPS knowledge, biofuel and alternative energy awareness, and computer/technological skills needed for research.
    Science Educators’ Training on GLOBE Objectives
    Elementary and secondary science teachers will become involved in the international science community as they receive inquiry-based training in protocols in land cover, biomass, atmospheric studies and hydrology through the SET GO program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.
