Fund for Teachers - Oklahoma (Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence)

Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence administers two programs that provide funding for professional development. Teacher Scholarships for Professional Development are designed to enhance educational opportunities for students by helping teachers attend top-quality regional, national and international workshops and institutes in their chosen fields. Boeing provides math and science scholarships for teachers in the greater Oklahoma City area. Fund for Teachers-Oklahoma provides fellowships of up to $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for teams for self-designed summer professional growth. The program is designed to enrich the professional growth of teachers as they identify and pursue opportunities around the globe that will have the greatest impact on their practice, the academic lives of their students and on their school communities.

GEAR UP - Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education

Oklahoma GEAR UP is a federally-funded program that provides college preparation programs and scholarships for middle school and high school students. Educators can take advantage of professional development activities.

National Science Teachers Association

The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) is an organization devoted to promoting innovative teaching techniques for science educators and connections among science instructors, scientists, administrators, and industry representatives. For the Oklahoma Women in Science Conference, the NSTA contributed materials on food science, produced cooperatively with the Food and Drug Administration.

Science Educators Training on GLOBE Objectives (SET GO)

Oklahoma EPSCoR sponsors the SET GO program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant. In this program, science educators will attend a two-day seminar on the GLOBE program in which they will learn about GLOBE protocols in land cover, biomass, atmospheric studies, and hydrology. Participants will then be eligible to apply for grants to purchase GLOBE-approved equipment and classroom materials.

Science Matters! Mobile Science Vehicle and Teachers' Biofuel Workshop

Oklahoma EPSCoR and the Oklahoma Museum Network have partnered to provide a mobile science museum to rural school districts in Oklahoma. Teachers and students receive materials for ongoing classroom projects in bioenergy.

Teachers' Domain: Digital Media for the Classroom and Professional Development

Teachers' Domain is an online library of more than 2,500 free digital media resources and fee-based online professional development courses for teachers developed by Boston public television station WGBH. Classroom resources support state and national standards and draw from the best in public television and its content partners to include videos, Flash interactive applications, images, background essays, and lesson plans. Registration is required to access materials, but registration is free.

Classroom Aerosol Adventure Kit

The Consumer Aerosol Products Council’s (CAPCO) Classroom Aerosol Adventure Kit contains all of the materials educators need to teach students about the Earth’s protective upper ozone layer, CFCs and the technology used in aerosol products in a fun and active way.
